In Belgium, of course there’s RAMPAGE WEEKEND 2023: TOTAL TAKEOVER in Antwerp, and not much else, because well there’s Rampage and it’s so big ! This time it’s a special edition, on friday they take over the 10 biggest clubs in the city, each curated by a specific partner, with a specific vibe ; some dnb, some dubstep. Then Saturday is at their usual location, the Sportpaleis, which is huge and usually features one of the most impressive light shows. But it’s only one stage which alternates between dnb and dubstep.
Saturday there’s Saintklet present: Mentality x Amen , right next to Yser metro station, which is clearly going to be on the dark side of jungle
Sadly, we’ll have to miss that one, as we have been planning to go to High Rollerz: Medusa’s drum&bass maze for a long time. This one is close to Antwerp, and has liquid, deep and jump up on the menu
The place was packed, the vibes in the public were awesome, full of love and respect, all of the sets were out of this world
Cynical Gene Dnb opened with pure fire, vibrating between Deep DnB and Old School Techstep And you were already there in numbers, completely filling the Café Central for his set
Boycot_dnb & Madlock performed a very varied set, with some Ragga Jungle and liquid vibes, mixed with a lot of Deep and some Neuro. It was damn heavy
Whyam’me & DJ Seka surprised us with an explosion of Neurofunk and scratching. We really felt all the preparation that went into their set
DJ G-Saims & MEGO rocked the last set but were forced had to stop earlier than announced
We have to acknowledge the slight lack of bass at our party, we did our best to tweak their sound system, but couldn’t get more bass out of it than what we got. We were very surprised that the café’s sound engineer left at 10pm, right when we started, and did not give us any way of managing the sound to ensure a good balance of highs, mids and lows.
Next time, we promise to plan ahead to make sure there is plenty bass

Boycot and Madlock came up in the scene at the same time, going to raves in the early 00’s. After a while, Boycot joined the ‘Liquid Flavaz’ radioshow which Madlock was hosting a the time. This resulted in the best drum and bass radio show on the best radio channel in the world: Urgent.fm.
Their love and knowledge for drum and bass goes broad and deep. Their selection is full-inclusive: oldtimers and fresh underground talent, cheesy vs dead serious – everything and anything goes.
Madlock, an avid wine connoisseur, blends the finest tracks in a bubbling mix – leaving a fresh after touch for the ravers. He reads a crowd and delivers a tailor-made mix for each dancefloor. Boycot’s focus on producing has resulted in high profile releases on Break’s Symmetry Recordings and Midas Touch – to name a few. This has brought him to play in Fuse Brussels and Humanoid Berlin.
Madlock and Boycot recently saw their work rewarded with a massive set on Star Warz – supporting S.P.Y. and LSB.
They are going to bring their Ghent swagger to BXL, expect some heavy brewing!

Boycot et Madlock sont arrivés sur la scène drum & bass à la même époque, en fréquentant les raves du début des années 2000. Boycot rejoint par la suite l’émission de radio “Liquid Flavaz” que Bram animait à l’époque. Ainsi est née la meilleure émission radio de drum & bass sur la meilleure chaîne de radio du monde : Urgent.fm. Leur amour et leur connaissance de la drum & bass sont vastes et profonds. Leur sélection ne fait aucune impasse : des plus anciens aux plus récents talents de l’underground, du kitsch à l’ultra-sérieux – tout est permis.
Madlock, en fin connaisseur de vin, mélange les meilleurs morceaux en un mix pétillant – laissant aux raveurs une note de fraîcheur en bouche. Il lit la foule du coin de l’oeil et façonne un mix unique à chaque évènement.
Le temps consacré par Boycot à la production a donné lieu à des sorties remarquées sur le label de Break ; Symmetry Recordings, sur Midas Touch, ainsi que sur plusieurs autres labels. Cela l’a amené à jouer au Fuse à Bruxelles et à l’Humanoid à Berlin.
Madlock et Boycot ont vu leur travail récompensé lors de la dernière Star Warz, où ils ont fait un méga set en première partie de S.P.Y. et LSB.

Boycot & Madlock leerden elkaar kennen in de rave scene van de vroege jaren 00. Na een tijdje vervoegde Boycot de ‘Liquid Flavaz’ radioshow, waar Madlock host was. Zo verzorgden zij jaar na jaar het beste drum and bass radioprogramma op de beste radiozender ter wereld: Urgent.fm.
Hun kennis en liefde voor drum and bass gaat breed en diep. Hun selectie is bijgevolg volledig inclusief: oude tracks en underground talent, cheesy en bloedserieus – alles kan.
Madlock, een passioneel wijnkenner, mixt the beste tracks in een sprankelende mix – met een frisse toch voor elke raver. Hij slaagt erin elke mix op maat te maken van elke dansvloer.
Boycot’s focus ligt al een tijdje op het producen van drum and bass, met als resultaat een aantal dikke releases op Break’s Symmetry recordings en Midas’ Touch recordings.… Hij speelde al ten dans in Fuse Brussel en Humanoid Berlijn.

Cynical Gene started to DJ at 15 and quickly realised this was something he wanted to do for many of his future years. 10 years into it, he turned to production, slowly honing in on his craft, and began making his own sound in the darker, rolling type of drum & bass. Supporting the likes of Randall, Dillinja, Audio and many others, his DJ rosta has spanned over 6 countries. Cynical Gene a commencé à mixer à ses 15 ans, et se rendit rapidement compte que c’était une activité qu’il voulait poursuivre encore longtemps. Après 10 ans de pratique, il se tourne vers la production, travaillant ardemment pour lentement développer ses compétences, et commença à former son patte sonore dans le côté obscur et roulant de la drum & bass. Son parcours de DJ l’a emmené dans 6 pays, se produisant en soutien d’artistes comme Randall, Dillinja, Audio et bien d’autres encore. Cynical Gene begon op zijn 15e met DJ-en, en realiseerde zich al snel dat dit iets was wat hij nog vele jaren wilde doen. Na 10 jaar draaide hij zich om naar productie, waarbij hij zijn vak langzaam aanscherpte en zijn eigen geluid begon te maken in de donkere, rollende vorm van drum & bass.
