Fiber Party Review 🥳

So Wednesday evening we went to Fiber Hemelvaart SOLD OUT | MADUK, KANINE, CULTURE SHOCK & more. in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Two and a half hours of car to go and to come back, but boy was it worth it 🥰

Firstly, the venue is really good. Both rooms have great soundsystems, good sound engineers who balanced the sound perfectly, nice light show in both rooms, although I preferred the light show in room 2, in room 1 it was a little too bright for my taste. The drink selection was varied, with some local craft beers available 😋 The personnel and security was nice, the public was super cool too, polite when passing through and easily sharing their fun 😄 Toilets were pretty clean. Poppodiums are like Cultural Centres, not for profit, benefiting from financial help from the local government, and I must say I’m impressed by how the Netherlands have succeeded in creating such awesome places for alternative musical events 👏

Leniz opened the main room with a nice set, warmed us up nicely.

Then came Keeno , who combined mixing with playing piano, and presented his brand new EP ; Courage. And it was F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C 🤩 Such good flow, transitions, selection, all awesome. And his piano playing on top was really SO GOOD, it added a whole new dimension to the music 👏 Also, at the end, the organizer of the event came on stage to play guitar on one of his songs, and it was also a great combination 😍 Our good friend MC Fava added his usual high quality MCing, being such a good director for the public, helping create connection within the public, energizing us even more 🔥

We then went to room 2 to see him (MC Fava) perform both as DJ and MC to showcase his album that is coming out on SUN AND BASS records in a few days 🥳 His set was awesome, such good vibes, such awesome singing, also good flow, we danced the whole time 💃🕺 We’ve seen him perform as DJ + MC several times now, and we can’t wait for the next one 💘

We stayed a little in room 2 to see Fava MC on Telomic ‘s set, which was nice, but the flow was a little flat and missed some high energy tracks here and there. We hope his set at Liquicity Antwerp tonight will be different 🤞

Thanks to Fava, we were able to congratulate Keeno on his awesome set, and he’s was such a gentleman too 🙏

We caught the end of Culture Shock , which was awesome too, full power 🔥

Then we saw Kanine , great set too, full energy, jump up but not new school, good flow 🌊

The final set by The Caracal Project B2B Buunshin lasted 1h45, was very good at the start but then went into halftime, some 120 sounds, lot of 4×4, not so much our taste, but well mixed 👍

A huge thank you to the organizers for such a nice party 🙏💯👏

We’ll definitely come back 🔥🔥🔥

First up, tonight, Wednesday !

There’s Velocity w/ DWARDE (UK) – Subreachers – Chubbz – FREQ444 & Figures, which is Antwerp’s regular dark jungle event. Should be 🔥

There’s also BASEMENT: Drum & Bass @Leuven, which is free and should be varied DnB, mostly small local artists, with TEEZER❤️ from WHAT U ON ABOUT as cherry on top.

We’ll be in Nijmegen for Fiber Hemelvaart SOLD OUT | MADUK, KANINE, CULTURE SHOCK & more., 2h30 minutes ride, but what a line-up ! Can’t wait to see Keeno present his EP that came out today, or MC Fava do a DJ + MC set to showcase his album that comes out on Sun and Bass records next week !

On Thursday there’s D[Rum&Ba]SS Thursdays ft. WHAT-U-ON-ABOUT?! in Leuven. Should be varied Dnb, lots of rollers. Maybe get a room in central Leuven if you want to do both events there, it’s also a super beautiful town to visit, with some amazing restaurants !

In Gent, there’s Underground @ De Vooruit ; sold be jump up but well dosed, not too extreme.

In Cologne (Germany), there’s Drop That w/ Used + Techno Floor at Bootshaus ; should also be jump up & more.

Weekend party review

This weekend was AWESOME 🥰

Friday we went to STEAM XL w/ ENEI (decadance)🤩

And it was very good 👍

The STEAMteam B2Bs were all very good, good vibe, selection and flow. Big ups to Snap-ah, Solace, Cedex & Higher Underground and Miles. – You all rocked !

One87 totally outdid himself. Heavy, dark and rolling beats 😈Cynical Gene Dnb couldn’t stop saying how it was the best One87 set he’d ever seen 😍

Wingz did a very good set, nice selection, good flow 😄 Some transition difficulties in the beginning, but they were quickly sorted.

BREDREN were at their best level too, their set was high quality, really nice flow, good variety, perfect technique 🙏👏

Enei was pure fire 🔥. His set was very hard, several 4×4 drops, perfect technique too 👍

The sound system was very loud, the bass was spot on ! Sometimes a little cracking, the sound could have been a little cleaner, but still good.

Decadance is a really nice club, the bar crew and security are very nice. Only downside, the smoking area, although very nicely furnished, had Minimal House playing all the time… It would’ve been better if it had been the music from inside that was played 😉

And Saturday was our own party ; Drum & Beer #7 !

Thanks to the public, the artists, the bar crew, the security and the sound engineer, it was a great success ❤️🔥🎉

Thanks to our early communication and to the talent of Café Central‘s sound engineers, the sound was very well set, and even though we had to respect a limit of 95dB, it was enough to enjoy the music !

The bar got pretty crowded around 11.30pm, the atmosphere was really friendly, lots of positive energy and heavy dancing 💃🕺

Aethra played first 🙏 gave us a really nice set, showcasing his recent productions, starting with light liquid/deep tracks, and ending with some nice progressive neurofunk.

Then came my turn to play, and all I’m going to say is that you were on fire 🔥🔥🔥

Bahilo delivered a very strong jump up set, filled to the brim with energy 💪 We weren’t really expecting this much jump up, but he did mix it very well !

He was accompanied by Likwit on scratching duties, and boy did he rock the scratching 💥

On top of his set, he retransmitted our party on his show on Radio Panik ; Saturday Night Panik ! You will soon be able to listen to it again on their website !

Miss Elorak confirmed her reputation, and gave us an awesome Liquid to Neuro set 🤯😍🔥 Flow & selection were 💯👌

SYNS gave us a mostly Deep DnB set, with strong energy and full of rollers. Perfect technique too 👏

Initial closed the night with a nice blend of Neuro, which you were clearly waiting for 👀

And he didn’t deceive 💣💣💣💥💥💥

Seeing how much enthusiasm was shown for neurofunk, both from DJs and from the public, our next edition is going to be dark & heavy 😈😈😈

G-Saims is preparing a varied set, between Liquid, Ragga Jungle Old-School Jump Up and Deep DnB

Living in a constant stream of music since he was 14 years old, G-Saims is first and foremost a music lover with extremely diverse tastes, who loves to know and collect the music that moves him. After rewarding professional experiences in teaching, IT, customer service, sales and agriculture, he bought his first DJ controller in early 2021, and discovered a passion for deejaying while mixing in small private parties in Brussels.

He meets BenOneShot, Sisley and Mego during the Chill2Chill party in Tour & Taxis in August 2021. A strong friendship is formed between Mego and G-Saims in the following months, carried by a common passion for Drum & Bass. They decide to launch together the concept of parties imagined by G-Saims, “Drum & Beer”, small Drum & Bass parties in Brussels, where you can taste local and craft beers.

At 24 years old, Aethra has already built himself a large experience in the Drum & Bass scene. Hailing from Liege, he started mixing dnb in 2016, in a New School Jump Up style, under the names “Skankage” and “Machine Attax”, has performed at many parties in Belgium, and has produced tracks for Liondub International, Down 2 Earth Music and Subway Soundz.

Influenced by Netsky, BCee & Lomax, Kove, and Camo & Krooked, he decided to experiment into a more varied genre, and started producing liquid, ambient, and sometimes slightly neuro tracks, in the summer of 2022. His first release will be out in June on Celsius recordings 👀❤️

He will come to make you discover, in avant-première, these tracks on which he has been working for a while, in a mainly liquid mix, with some neuro touches.

It all began in the year 2000, when Initial acquired his first vinyl turntables.

He made his first steps in radio a few years later, where he learned many animation techniques by participating in the presentation of weekly shows. His evolution in the Brussels radio scene allows him to create the show “Zone Inconnue” on radio Vibration in 2008.

Pioneer and proud representative of the Brussels underground movement (& beyond), his playground as a DJ is inspired by the very roots of Breakbeat, Jungle and Drum & Bass.

Initial has played at the Coliséum (Charleroi), Caves de Cornillon (Liège), ACB Factory (Bxl), KultuurKaffee (Bxl), Relais Tir (Bxl), SteelGate (Bxl), T.A.G (Bxl), RIC’s Boat (Bxl), Fulmar (Bxl), Recyclart (Bxl), Skatepark des Ursulines (Bxl), Alter Ego (Poland), as well as in many other unusual places.

A major figure in the Brussels Drum & Bass scene, Initial will delight us with his Neurofunk sounds.

Brought up on a collection of records and CDs of underground music from the 80’s and 90’s, he learnt to appreciate different styles such as House, New Wave, Techno, Hip-Hop and Reggae, then sought to explore other genres and sub genres.

He started mixing on vinyl in 2003, mainly in Techno and Drum & Bass. He joined the CL-AUDIO Records collective, and participated in the organization of Drum & Bass events in Brussels between 2005 and 2012. He played alongside guests like Total Science, State Of Mind, Danny Byrd,…

In 2013 he meets I-SON and creates with him “Catch My Bass”, eclectic parties with Kromestar, Egoless, and Requake as guests.

Today SYNS is a member of the “Reboot” collective as resident DJ, playing House, Broken Beat and Breaks, mainly on vinyl. Reboot shares a space and collaborates closely with Hospice Records, in the center of Brussels at Grand Hospice.

He’s been hosting the “All About Grime” show since 2018, on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 9:30pm to 11:30pm, on Radio Panik @105.4 fm. Interviews, guest mixes, reviews and much more!

Aujourd’hui SYNS est membre du collectif “Reboot” en tant que DJ résident, dans un style House, Broken Beat et Breaks, joué principalement aux vinyles. Reboot partage un espace et collabore étroitement avec Hospice Records, dans le centre de Bruxelles au Grand Hospice.

Il anime dès 2018 l’émission “All About Grime”, les 2e et 4e samedi du mois de 21h30 à 23h30, sur Radio Panik @105.4 fm. Interviews, guest mix, chroniques et bien plus !

Opgevoed met een verzameling platen en cd’s van underground muziek uit de jaren ’80 en ’90, leerde hij verschillende stijlen waarderen, zoals House, New Wave, Techno, Hip-Hop en Reggae, en zocht daarna andere genres en subgenres op.

Vandaag is SYNS lid van het “Reboot” collectief als resident DJ, waar hij House, Broken Beat en Breaks draait, voornamelijk op vinyl. Reboot deelt een ruimte en werkt nauw samen met Hospice Records, in het centrum van Brussel bij Grand Hospice.

Sinds 2018 host hij de “All About Grime” show, op de 2e en 4e zaterdag van de maand van 21u30 tot 23u30, op Radio Panik @105.4 fm. Interviews, gastmixen, recensies en nog veel meer!
