Hey, where’s the drum and bass at this weekend ?

On Friday you got :

BANKIZZ – Hardcore Edition (19 years Bankizz + 40 years Pingu) in Brussels where there should be some dnb but not that much.

But there’s a jungle night in Antwerp ; Ruffskool – A Jungle Rave w/ FFF (nl) – DJ TRAX (uk) – Figures (be) , and it’s in Trix , which is an awesome venue, great soundsystem, perfect size and layout. Plus the lineup is

On saturday there’s a little more choice :

In Brussels, again at Jh Alleman , you got Constrict Music : Launch & Release Party, which should be mainly dnb, not sure exactly which flavor, but I don’t think it’ll be new school jump up.

In Charleroi, there’s Broken’bass – Tom Finster Intimate Showcase, I think neuro, maybe varied.

Halfway between Gent and Bruges, there’s Make It Rumble , a free party, deep, maybe a bit liquid, with an awesome lineup – Cynical Gene Dnb ; Lavance ; SVB ; Scepticz ; Expensive KVR

Finally there’s a new school jump up party in Gent ; BAD HABITZ TALENT NIGHT V ‘WEEKENDER PRE PARTY’

And as monday is holiday, there’s two new school jump up parties on sunday evening !

SUB SKANKERZ & SEL INVITES w/SUBSONIC & MAJISTRATE in Antwerp, and Bleetfoef ‘Tempest’ in Mechelen ; with Buunshin

We’ll probably go to Ruffskool on friday, and we’ll keep the rest of the long weekend to spend time with our kids.

So where’s the Drum & Bass at this weekend ?

On friday there’s 3 parties :

Soirée DJ at LAMAB in centrum Brussels, close to Botanique, which should be varied but around bass music and definitely with some DnB.

Neuro als Nergens with One87 in Wilrijk, very close to Antwerp, on the south side. Should be Neuro and Deep.

For the Jump Up lovers, there’s VENGEANCE: RUMBLE OF THE UNDERGROUND (60% SOLD OUT) in Geel

On saturday we got 3 more:

FRIENDS OF DARK GLOW #2 in Wilrijk, same spot as Neuro als nergens. Should be varied ; Deep, Dancefloor, Liquid, Jump Up,…

Underground Sessions By Monkey Business in Gent, like usually with them it’s Ragga jungle, Jungle, DnB, Rave & Breakcore.

Again for the jump up lovers, INVIDIA: 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, in Antwerp.

Where’s the Drum & Bass @ this weekend in Belgium

Right now, there’s a party that just started ; BASEMENT: Drum & Bass @Leuven – not exactly sure what flavour of DnB this will be, apparently not new school jump up.

On Friday in Brussels you’ve got OPTIMAL BASS x Antidote : Drum’n bass session with the great Sisley & BenOneShot as well as Ben Nidrev

Somewhere in flanders, at a secret location, there’s Concrete Drum X Bass W/ Visages – SOLD OUT

In Charleroi there’s Spawn Tonight : Drum & Bass Edition where I believe you should be able to see MEGO from our team

We will be north, at HIGH TEA Amsterdam – KOVEN Europe Tour

Then comes Saturday :

…and apparently losing an hour discouraged promoters…

Or maybe it’s the heavy competition from HOSPITALITYDNB TILBURG @ POPPODIUM 013 just across the border in the Netherlands ; where we’ll be going to see Netsky ; Metrik ; Degs ; as well as support our local D-Bro

So in Belgium there’s only Alcatraz – Most Wanted ; which is clearly going to be mostly New School Jump Up, maybe even Riddim oriented.

This weekend at The Jungle Weekender Amsterdam • 10-13 March 2023 was very emotional, as nearly all the artists were good friends with the great figures of drum & bass that passed this weekend, and a huge part of the public had seen them often on stage.

We pay tribute to their contributions to our great music

MC Fats your voice will continue to influence all future Junglists

Peace, Love & Unity was the last song DJ G-Saims played during his B2B set with MEGO last week at the closing of Drum & Beer #6 – Dark Edition @ Café Central ; and Drop it down has been a classic of ours since the very beginning.

So, where’s the Drum & Bass at this weekend ?

We’ll be going to Amsterdam for The Jungle Weekender Amsterdam • 10-13 March 2023 – I think we found paradise ; Jungle, DnB, Reggae, small event, boat parties during the day, and sponsored by MR NICE + several coffeeshops !

In Belgium, of course there’s RAMPAGE WEEKEND 2023: TOTAL TAKEOVER in Antwerp, and not much else, because well there’s Rampage and it’s so big ! This time it’s a special edition, on friday they take over the 10 biggest clubs in the city, each curated by a specific partner, with a specific vibe ; some dnb, some dubstep. Then Saturday is at their usual location, the Sportpaleis, which is huge and usually features one of the most impressive light shows. But it’s only one stage which alternates between dnb and dubstep.

So besides that, there’s HOSPICE RECORDS X JARDIN W/ MASHUP BUSINESS • 11/03 in centrum Brussels, with some of Brussels’ best and most experienced jungle DJs.

And not too far, there’s ■ FROM RIJSEL WITH LUV # 9 ■ in Lille, France. Looks like the vibe will be Deep DnB.

So this weekend there’s more Drum & Bass in Brussels and Belgium !

Friday there’s Blanquette and Bass #4 in Auderghem, looks like that’s gonna be sightly more on the dark side. I plan on going to check the place out

There’s also De Kosmo :: Drum and Bass Night 3 in Geel.

Saturday there’s Saintklet present: Mentality x Amen , right next to Yser metro station, which is clearly going to be on the dark side of jungle

Sadly, we’ll have to miss that one, as we have been planning to go to High Rollerz: Medusa’s drum&bass maze for a long time. This one is close to Antwerp, and has liquid, deep and jump up on the menu

There’s also 15 Years of Monkey Business in Ghent, which is going to be more ragga jungle, and

Grand Theft Audio: Bruges City Stories | A DNB CONCEPT , also in Ghent.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to Drum & Beer #6 – Dark Edition @ Café Central

The place was packed, the vibes in the public were awesome, full of love and respect, all of the sets were out of this world

Cynical Gene Dnb opened with pure fire, vibrating between Deep DnB and Old School Techstep And you were already there in numbers, completely filling the Café Central for his set

Boycot_dnb & Madlock performed a very varied set, with some Ragga Jungle and liquid vibes, mixed with a lot of Deep and some Neuro. It was damn heavy

Whyam’me & DJ Seka surprised us with an explosion of Neurofunk and scratching. We really felt all the preparation that went into their set

DJ G-Saims & MEGO rocked the last set but were forced had to stop earlier than announced

We have to acknowledge the slight lack of bass at our party, we did our best to tweak their sound system, but couldn’t get more bass out of it than what we got. We were very surprised that the café’s sound engineer left at 10pm, right when we started, and did not give us any way of managing the sound to ensure a good balance of highs, mids and lows.

Next time, we promise to plan ahead to make sure there is plenty bass
